Watch This, Read That — Trainwreck / Why Not Me?

Now for something lighter! Trainwreck (DVD COMEDY TRA) is a 2015 romantic-comedy about a 23 year old hard-drinking party girl who is living by the words of her father: “monogamy is not realistic.” She does not want to be pinned down to just one man, but when she interviews a sports doctor for the men’s magazine she works for, her personal philosophy is put to the test.

Why Not Me? (817.6 KAL) by Mindy Kaling is another look at the social and working culture of a woman in modern America. This 2015 book of humorous essays, a follow-up to her book Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (and other concerns), should appeal to those looking for a light read about the trials and tribulations of this talented writer and actress living in West Hollywood. She touches on the subjects of friendship, being comfortable in your own skin, and going for what you want. As Mindy says in the book: “I will leave you with one last piece of advice, which is: If you’ve got it, flaunt it. And if you don’t got it? Flaunt it. ’Cause what are we even doing here if we’re not flaunting it?”
